Give each sticker a job
A planner sticker works best when it helps you find something quickly. Choose a handful of useful roles before you add more decoration: a daily heading, a next action, a focus block, a reminder, and a completion marker. A small set is easier to recognize than a long row of nearly identical badges.
The Notes & planning collection gives those roles different outlines. A torn-paper note can introduce the day. A folded arrow points forward. A bookmark holds a private reminder. An architectural arch frames focused time. A knotted ribbon gently marks something worth remembering.
Personalize the words, not just the colors
Open the Today note in the studio. The word Today is a live text layer, separate from the paper illustration. Select it in the layer panel, change the words, and adjust the font or spacing if you need more room. You can also double-click a text layer on the canvas to edit it directly.
Keep the heading short. Monday, This week, or one date is easier to fit than an entire to-do list. If you want several lines of notes, add a new text layer and arrange it inside the paper. Text and artwork can be moved independently; Shift-select them when you want to move or export the complete sticker together.
Create a visual rhythm
Use one or two text styles across a page. A serif heading can feel personal, while a compact sans-serif label is useful for small status notes. You do not need every sticker to use the same shape for the page to feel consistent. Repeating a restrained palette and similar spacing can tie a flower, a bookmark, and an arrow together.
Give important stickers a little room. A note pressed against a chart or the edge of a page becomes harder to scan. Before you export, view the design at a small size and check that its caption still reads clearly. Treat decorative motifs as accents rather than filling every empty corner.
Bring the sticker into your planner
Export a transparent PNG at 2× to start. For the entire composition, leave Export selection off; for a smaller cropped sticker, select the relevant layers first. The transparent PNG guide explains how the artboard and selection options differ.
Import the downloaded file using your planner app’s image workflow. Some planners support reusable image libraries, while others simply insert a picture on the current page. Check the app you use rather than assuming a PNG will behave like a native sticker pack. In Notion, you can insert it as an image block and resize it alongside your other content.
Keep planning accessible
Use a word as well as a color to indicate status. A sage check box can look pleasant, but Done makes its meaning explicit. For image blocks that offer alternative text, describe the practical message, not only the shape: Today’s priorities is more useful than Cream rectangle.
Start with five or six useful expressions and use them for a week before adding more. If you keep reaching for the same heading or reminder, personalize it further. If a sticker never helps you navigate the page, you can leave it out. A planner should make the next step easier to find.
Keep a reusable planning kit
Build a small pack from the Today note, Next up arrow, and Done checklist. Save them to your tray and download a ZIP. Keep your custom exports alongside those originals in your planner's image library. A shared collection link includes your original picks, so export and send personalized versions separately.
For workflow labels, the editable status badge library and Notion and Slack badge guide cover a complementary set. Pair an important reminder with a plain-text label, or copy an arrow or check mark when an image would take up too much room.
